The line graph illustrates the amount of three kinds of spreads (margarine, low fat and reduced spreads and butter) which were consumed over 26 years from 1981 to 2007. Units are measured in grams.
Overall, the consumption of margarine and butter decreased over the period given, while for low-fat and reduced spreads, it rose. At the start of the period, butter was the most popular spread, which was replaced by margarine from 1991 to 2001, and following that low fat and reduced spreads became the most widely used spread in the final years.
With regards to the amount of butter used, it began at around 140 grams and grams in the last year. Likewise, approximately 90 grams of margarine was eaten in the first year after which the figure fluctuated slightly and dropped to a low of 40 grams in 2007, then peaked at 160 grams in 1986 before falling dramatically to about 50
On the other hand, the consumption of low fats and reduced spreads only started in 1996 at about 10 grams. This figure, which reached a high of just over 80 grams 5 years later, fell slightly in the final years to approximately 20 grams in 2007.

The chart illustrates the amount of money spent on five consumer goods (cars, computers, books, perfume, and cameras) in France and the UK in 2010. Units are measured in pounds sterling.
Overall, the UK spent more money on consumer goods than France in the period given. Both the British and the French spent most of their money on cars whereas the least amount of money was spent on perfume in the UK compared to cameras in France. Furthermore, the most significant difference in expenditure between the two countries was on cameras.
In terms of cars, people in the UK spent about £450,000 on this as opposed to the French at £400,000. Similarly, the British expenditure was higher on books than the French (around €400.000 and £300.000 respectively). In the UK, expenditure on cameras (just over £350.000) was over double that of France, which was only £150.000.
On the other hand, the amount of money paid out on the remaining goods was higher in France. Above £350.000 was spent by the French on computers which was slightly more than the British who spent exactly £350.000. Neither of the countries spent much on perfume which accounted for £200.000 of expenditure in France but under £150.000 in the UK.

The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth.
Bài Writing mẫu:
The chart illustrates the circulation of water in nature.
Overall, it is clear that there are three primary stages in this process, beginning with water evaporation and the formation of a cloud. The next step shows the water‘s journey after falling to the ground, and the process ends with saltwater intrusion.
At the first step of the process, water evaporates into the air, as a result of the sun’s heat. It is estimated that 80% of total water vapor is taken from the ocean. Following this, a cloud is formed by the condensation of water vapor.
In the next stage, the heavy clouds cause rain or snow. Water from the precipitation partly pours into the lakes or is absorbed into the ground. The surface runoff, which is made from rainwater, creates the groundwater and then flows back to the ocean without reaching the impervious layer. The final stage of the process is saltwater intrusion, where water from the ocean moves to the freshwater aquifers.
The maps below show the center of a small town called Islip as it is now, and the plans for its development.
Bài mẫu IELTS Writing:
The diagrams illustrate some proposed changes to the central area of the town of Islip.
It is clear that the principal change to the town will be the construction of a ring road around the center. Various other developments with regard to shops and housing will accompany the building of this road.
Looking at the map of Islip as it is now, we can see that a main road runs through its center from east to west. The second map shows the planned pedestrianization of this road. Traffic will be diverted onto a dual carriageway that will form a ring around the town center.
Currently, there is a row of shops along either side of the main road. However, it appears that the shops along the north side of the new pedestrian street will be demolished to make way for a bus station, shopping center, car park, and new housing area. The shops along the south side of the street will remain, but it seems that the town’s park will be reduced in size so that more new houses can be built within the ring road.

Organized tours to remote communities and other countries are increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for local people and the local environment?
Bài mẫu:
It is true that tours to remote and exotic places on the earth have gained popularity in recent years. While this has several benefits for the local community, I believe that overall the negative consequences are more significant.
Admittedly, the growth of the tourism industry has brought enormous benefits to local people. More tourists mean greater demand for food, accommodation, and services, all of which create job opportunities and alleviate unemployment in the area. The development of tourism also has ripple effects on local infrastructure, with more roads and bridges being built to meet tourists’ needs. This can be seen in the case of ABC, a coastal city, and also a tourist destination in [your country].
The biggest disadvantage of the trend is, however, its adverse effects on the pristine environment and creatures living there. Forests may be cut down to make way for resorts and hotels; marine life might be threatened due to water pollution, and birds have to find other places to inhabit. In some places, waste from the hotel industry is becoming an environmental problem that concerns many people, not just environmentalists. Another drawback is that increased tourism may break social cohesion in the local community. Many people make a living by providing services for travelers and become rich while many others remain poor and struggle for the next meal. This wealth gap is gradually widening and has detrimental impacts on the bond and the shared values of indigenous individuals.
In conclusion, although the growth of tourism to remote areas and exotic countries is beneficial to some extent, it is more likely to have harmful impacts on local people and the environment.
Some people think an international car-free day is an effective way of reducing air pollution, others think there are some other ways. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Bài mẫu IELTS Writing:
The ubiquity of cars is often considered a major culprit of air quality degradation in many countries. To combat atmospheric pollution, many suggest that car-free days should be held internationally. However, I contend that these events may achieve little success, and there are more effective methods to preserve the atmosphere.
Advocates of organizing global car-free days may argue that the absence of cars promotes the use of public transport and activities such as cycling and walking, which all contribute considerably to the reduction of traffic emissions. This argument, from my perspective, is flawed, because of two facts. The first is that a few days without cars out of 365 days of the year may help cut down as little as one percent of the annual amount of traffic fumes, so the assertion that this short-term reduction is significant is a mere exaggeration. The second is that this solution does not limit the massive amount of air contaminants being released from industrial zones. It is, therefore, a one-sided approach and arguably not an effective way to address the problem of air pollution.
There are, in my opinion, better measures to minimize air pollution. One of them is constructing dedicated lanes for public means of transport. These lanes guarantee that public transport is relatively faster than individual vehicles in rush hours, which may encourage a majority of commuters to eschew their personal vehicles in favor of mass transit. The implication is that motor vehicle use may be reduced throughout the year, which exerts a longer-lasting impact on minimizing traffic fumes than international car-free days may do. Another measure is levying a tax on carbon usage in all areas, including transport and industrial production. This measure has been adopted in several countries, including the United Kingdom, and has proven its effectiveness as a holistic approach to curtail emissions in all fields.
To sum up, I believe the organization of world car-free days may produce little effect on protecting the atmosphere. Other solutions, namely building designated lanes for public vehicles and taxing all industries on carbon usage, produce more sustainable effects on a larger scale.
In today’s world of advanced science and technology, we still greatly value our artists such as musicians, painters, and writers. What can arts tell us about life that science and technology cannot?
Bài Writing mẫu:
In this modern era of nonstop scientific and technological advancement, artists still command profound respect from people worldwide. There are a number of things about life that the arts can teach us that science and technology fail to do.
Many forms of art, especially literature, can deliver messages about the appreciation of what we have in life as well as life itself. Hundreds of literary works choose to depict misery, misfortune, and sorrow that still exist in many places, and this sends the strongest message to those who do not appreciate their lives. “The Goldfinch”, for example, which narrates a resonant story about the miserable life the main character led after the unfortunate death of his mother does make each one of us wonder whether we have become heartless toward our own loved ones. And I doubt that there are any technologies in the world that could manage to convey such powerful messages.
Arts teach us to cherish the beauty of culture and are the fuel for our spiritual lives. This is extremely important in a world where science and technology seem to fade our belief in the gravity of culture in daily life. The connection between arts and culture is here to stay, and traditional music and ancient paintings can remind us of where we came from and who we are at present. That is to say, our cultural identity is preserved in various forms of art.
Although science and technology advance our understanding of all things and better our lives, arts can touch us to a much deeper extent, help us value what we have, and remind us of the significance of our culture.
It is common practice for some students to take a gap year after graduating high school to work and/or travel. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
Bài viết mẫu:
It is true these days that many high school leavers choose to start their work or take a trip before going to university. While a gap year can bring some immediate drawbacks, I am convinced that it is more likely to have long-term benefits for their lives.
On the one hand, young students are very likely to encounter several difficulties when delaying their university studies. One of these problems is the delay in academic progress caused by spending one year off school. It is understandably almost impossible for young people to enjoy their experiences in doing a job or traveling to a new place but still arrange a certain amount of time for revision. As a result, gap-year takers may have to face the challenge of becoming familiar with the knowledge at school again, receiving more pressure to catch up with their peers. Besides, life outside the university campus may prove to be mentally and physically overwhelming for inexperienced school leavers. They, for instance, may be at risk of being exploited in an exhausting job or face potential dangers on their trips to a new country. If not well prepared for such possible obstacles, young high school graduates can suffer from unintended consequences.
On the other hand, I would argue that these disadvantages are outweighed by the positive effects. A gap year is an ideal opportunity for students to learn about what is not taught at university. Working with other people who are experts in a particular field can give these newcomers not only an understanding of the job but also valuable practical lessons to help them become more mature. When it comes to applying for a position in a company, employers tend to favorably consider applicants who possess extensive experience in life and the occupation. Furthermore, in terms of recreation, having a year to relax can be advantageous as students can have a chance to relieve stress in study. With a comfortable and willing attitude, undergraduates can acquire knowledge more effectively in comparison with those who go to university right away.
In conclusion, despite some negative aspects, it seems to me that the benefits of a gap year are more significant for the reasons mentioned.
People in many countries spend more and more time far away from their families. Why does this happen and what effects will it have on them and their families?
Bài viết mẫu:
There is now an increasing trend of individuals spending time far away from their families, which I believe sprouts from their hectic professional lives. In my opinion, this development has adverse effects on both individuals and their families.
People have to devote more time separated from their families due to the heavy workload that has come along with globalization. As more firms have become international, work has become more demanding. Numerous people are required to work overtime, travel overseas, and even work from home regularly to deliver results at their jobs. For example, employees of multinational companies such as Amazon and Facebook travel to various countries to meet their foreign clients as well as handle operations internationally which keeps them away from their families for long periods of time routinely.
Moreover, this lack of time with family will gravely affect individuals and their families with mental and emotional stress. The persons living far from their families would be devoid of their support system, would feel isolated from their loved ones, and may end up feeling miserable and depressed. Similarly, family members would always be worried and anxious about the person’s well-being. For instance, parents whose kids study or work abroad are concerned about their children’s eating habits, standard of living, hygiene, and sickness as well as personal and professional lives and numerous other things, which subjects the parents to chronic tension. Such stresses can result in various diseases in people, such as high blood pressure migraines, or even cardiac problems, all of which will severely impact their lives.
In conclusion, people spend much more time away from their families due to the onset of globalization and their heavy work lives, a development which will result in psychological and emotional stress for both.
